Defender Luke Cage

I must admit that I don’t have much time to watch TV these days so I should be very selective on what I watch. I do have favorites like Big Bang Theory and I will watch occasional shows on network TV but lately I have been watching the Marvel shows on Netflix. I like that they drop and entire season at ones so that I can watch the whole season in a very short time. This week alone I have watched 4 episodes of Luke Cage.

I love the Defenders series of shows on Netflix. Dare Devil was one of the comics I followed as a kid and I love this adaptation over the movie with Ben Affleck and Colin Farrell. I love them both as actors but that movie wasn’t the best. As for the Netflix adaptation, it is spot on I think Charlie Cox is the best Matt Murdock. Oh, and picking Vincent D’Onofrio as King Pin was genius! I have watched both season and must admit it is a great series. The depths of the characters and the storylines with the ethical dilemmas are great.

I watched Jessica Jones and must admit I didn’t think it would be that great but it was also well done and the choice of actors and actresses was spot on. Now I am halfway through Luke Cage and man there is some brutal stuff in there. I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t say what I saw last night that made me say “DAMMMM, that was brutal!”

Rumors are on the Internet that they don’t want to use these actors, like Charlie Cox, when they do the movie adaptation the Defenders. I think that would be a huge (think of Donald Trump saying “huge”) mistake. Don’t mess with it. I hate the fact that there have been 3 different actors played Spiderman. I mean if it was like Batman and almost every movie was a different actor or different independent movie then it is fine. But when you start to cross over and intertwine the stories to multiple other shows or movies you need to keep the same actors. Hollywood is of course only looking at the $$$. Well If I don’t like it I won’t watch it and it will hurt the franchise. Just my two cents.

Now I am looking forward to Iron Fist and hope that Netflix and Marvel will want to do Moon Knight. I am sure if there is a buck to be made Disney will be all over it.

What do you think about the Defenders shows on Netflix? What would you like to see?
