VLAN Basics

Virtual Local Area Networks, or VLANs, are a great way to help you segment network traffic. Often network traffic is segment for security or performance reasons. This is a very important concept as many medium to large networks will use. Home or small office networks won’t typically use VLANs, however, security and performance concerns may make VLANs advantageous. Higher end switches will have VLAN features.
