Linux+ Certification Update

Linux+ Logo

As promised I wanted to give you some information on the update of the Linux+ exams. Officially there are minor changes and I wanted to give you a list of those items in case you are planning to that the exams. Just as a note the Linux+ certification is run by CompTIA and certification organization that has a number of other industry standard certifications like Network+, A+, and Security+. Another organization, the Linux Professionals Institute (LPI), also has certifications like the Linux Essentials, LPIC-1, LPIC-2, and LPIC-3. Logo

If you take the Linux+ you can send you information to LPI and get the LPIC-1 certification without having to also take it from them since the exams cover the same information. The modifications to the CompTIA Linux+ exam objectives (LX0-101) include:

  • Adding objectives pertaining to systemd, Upstar, LVM, GRUB 2, and ext4;

  • Deleting LILO from list of terms; and

  • Adding bash_history to list of terms.

Modifications to the CompTIA Linux+ exam objectives (LX0-102) include:

  • Adding Environmental Variable TZ to list of terms, and

  • Adding an objective pertaining to IPv6

The Linux+ aligns with the LPIC-1 objectives which you can find here:
